CBS announces SCR500 million credit line facility to assist MSMEs

The global COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant disruptions in economic activities in the Seychelles. In this direction, the Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS) has established the Private Sector Relief Scheme – a credit facility that has been set up in order to assist Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) facing revenue constraints as a consequence of reduced demand for certain goods and services.

The Private Sector Relief Scheme will be funded through the Private Sector Relief Credit Line Facility whereby a sum of SCR500 million is being made available by CBS to members of the Seychelles Bankers Association. The announcement was made in a press conference on Wednesday 13th May, 2020. The Private Sector Releif Credit Line facility will be remain open for a period of six months, subject to ongoing developments.

More details on the Private Sector Relief Scheme can be found on the Response to COVID-19 page on the CBS website.
