‘Oscars – The Bar & Grill in Seychelles’ located at Anse la Mouche on Mahe is a restaurant which prides itself on offering authentic fish dishes. On Friday 15th March, Mr. Milen Velikov, owner of the restaurant welcomed members of the Investment Advisory and Investment Promotion team for an after-care visit.

 

Mr. Marc D’Offay the owner of Shark’s Ice Cream welcomed SIB’s Investment Advisory team for a courtesy visit on Tuesday 05th March 2019, at their factory at Providence Industrial Estate. The team met with Mr. D’Offay in his office, and then were taken for a show-round of the factory.

CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR SHIP REPAIR AND DRY DOCKING

 

The Seychelles Ports Authority is inviting sealed Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably qualified Consultancy Firms to provide “Consultancy Services for the feasibility study to assess the need for ship repair and dry docking in Seychelles”. The EOI is expected to lead to a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the above mentioned Consultancy Services from short-listed applicants.

A capital market is a component of a financial market for long-term investments. A capital market is, therefore, the part of the financial system that is concerned with raising funds, where investors and businesses come together to buy, sell and trade in financial instruments such as shares, bonds and other long-term investments, all commonly referred to as securities.

 

 What’s on offer in Seychelles?

 

Seychelles is an established and reputable international financial services jurisdiction, which offers international businesses and investors a wide range of products. The regulatory environment has been carefully developed through partnership between the public and private sectors, which has allowed the Seychelles to find the right balance between international requirements of global best practices and the needs of international businesses and investors.

 

As part of the post-investment support services for investment projects registered with SIB, the Investment Facilitation team met with two representatives of Kaz de Pasta, an Italian-owned company in Seychelles producing freshly made Pasta dishes. Their small factory is located at Anse Etoile on Mahe and they have been in operation since the 01st December 2018.

 

Kaz de Pasta is currently producing a wide range of pastas including lasagnas, ravioli, pizzas, cakes as well as cooked frozen spaghettis with a range of sauces. Customers have the choice of purchasing a fully prepared meal requiring cooking or re-heating, or pasta dough alone. The company is able to prepare products upon order, as well as cater for special occasions.

The Seychelles Investment Board organized its first VIP dinner which was held in Hong Kong on the 24th January 2019 at the Regal Hong Kong Hotel. The theme was ‘Investment Opportunities in Seychelles’. The aim of the dinner was to give potential investors within the Hong Kong and Pearl River Delta region an overview of the investment potential in Seychelles. This dinner has come about due to increased interests in Seychelles from investors in that region.

 

The Seychelles Investment Board alongside numerous other government departments and parastatal agencies attended the Sustainable Blue Economy Conference that was held at the Kenya International Conference Centre in Nairobi, Kenya from the 26th to 28th November, 2018.  The objectives of the conference was to engage in action-oriented discussions on pertaining issues such as the priorities and challenges of establishing a sustainable blue economy and innovative role of various stakeholders, including national and local governments, private sector, civil society, regional and sub-regional groups as well as domestic and international financial institutions in investing and formulating sustainable ways of exploiting the Blue Economy.

SIB’s Investment Facilitation team met with Mr. Herman Holst, the owner of Vision Care for a visit. 

 

Vision care has now been in existence for 16 years in Seychelles. Mr. Herman Holst, as he prefers to be called by his staff  “Herman” is originally from Germany. He moved to Namibia, where he set up eye care shops but then decided to move to Seychelles. He and his wife now have a total of five eye care shops in Seychelles.  In total, Vision care employs 34 staff, of which 8 are expatriate optometrists. Mr. Holst also offers on-the-job training for interns.   

Mahe Design & Build was started 15 years ago and over the years has flourished into one of the most respected and accomplished locally owned construction companies on the island.

 

SIB’s Investment Facilitation team was warmly welcomed to the property at Le Rocher by the Chief Executive and owner Mr Gilbert Frichot and his management team. Before being given a tour, the team was brought to the stunning offices which were dressed in modern design and architecture and locally sourced wood. Mr Frichot explained the business model, how it started, his many successes as well as the challenges they face.
